SROC Open House
Join your friends and neighbors at the University of Minnesota Open House on Thursday, September 13 at the Southern Research and Outreach Center (SROC) in Waseca. Learn about the Center’s research, participate in fun activities, and view exhibits for all ages, backgrounds and interests.Follow your passport to lead you through the “Taste as you Learn” exhibits featuring the chemopreventive café, pork tasting, soybean snacks, and milk shakes provided by the Waseca County American Dairy Association. Master Gardeners will be on hand and ready to identify weed, disease and insect problems and offer recommendations for control. Purchase locally produced honey. Learn about the MN grape industry and sample local wines and craft beer.Children can engage in 4-H activities and games, and navigate their way through the corn maze. Visitors can ride on the horse-drawn trolley, sample and purchase meat and cheeses produced by the University. See piglets and calves - you might even hear a turkey gobbling. Sign up to win door prizes along with eight grand prize drawings for, quarter pigs fully processed and packaged.Date and Time

4:00 PM - 8:00 PM CDTThe University of Minnesota Open House will be held, rain or shine, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on September 13 at the Southern Research and Outreach Center. Sweet corn provided by Pinnacle Bird’s Eye Foods of Waseca and hot dogs will be served from 4:30 to 7:30.

The Southern Research and Outreach Center is located on the west edge of Waseca on County Road 41.
