I have served 2-three year terms on the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and after that joined the Waseca Chamber Ambassadors. During my time as an ambassador I have had the pleasure of meeting with and presenting First Dollar Awards to new businesses in town, congratulating businesses who have grown and expanded with a Progress Award, and have thanked businesses who have been in town and established for 30 years with a Roots Award. Keeping a finger on the pulse of the community is what happens when you are involved with the Chamber and I don’t know that I would have had the pleasure of meeting all the people I have if it weren’t for this involvement.  Thank you Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce.

It has been a tremendous honor and privilege for me to serve as a member of the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce, Ambassadors and the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce AgriBusiness Committee.  Serving and participating as an Ambassador and as an AgriBusiness Committee member has shown me the great work that is done by its staff, its board and committees in making Waseca a super place to live and to work.

Some of the activities that I have seen first-hand include: First Dollar Award to new business; “Business After Hours” a place to network and promote business and industries for long time service to the community (Roots Award); annual Chamber Award Recognition Events, recognizing people that contribute to the community; host Business & Industry Luncheon, recognizing a business or industry of the year, and host to the Farm & City Luncheon, to help promote good rural/business relationships.

These are just a few of the chamber activities.  It does many more to encourage people and industries to come and to stay in our great community.

On behalf of Mayo Clinic Health System in Waseca, I want to say what an honor and a privilege it is to be an active member of the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce.  The Chamber does some amazing work in our community providing valuable resources and support for local businesses and also residents of the Waseca area including business directories, web portal benefits, job postings, promotional materials, event calendar, business referrals and a variety of highly impactful educational and networking opportunities.  As a member of the Chamber Board I have also witnessed first-hand many of the positive things that the Chamber does for our community such as working to communicate the advantages of living and doing business in the Waseca area.  The chamber engages in workforce development programs and is an advocate for economic growth, leading many community development initiatives and programs, hosting Business After Hour events and a variety of educational forums.  The common denominator that I believe benefits our members and the community the most are the long-lasting relationships that have been forged by the Chamber through its passion and pursuit of representing business, promoting growth and enhancing our community.  The Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce prides itself on getting connected and getting involved in order to make our community a better place to live and work.  It’s not just words, it’s a commitment I have actually seen in action and that’s a rare thing these days!

Cinch Connectivity Solutions (CCS) has been a part of the Waseca community since its original inception as the E.F. Johnson business founded in 1923, and we are proud of the valued partnership we have shared with the Waseca Chamber of Commerce over the years. In recent years we opened our doors to host the October 2014 Chamber Business After Hours event allowing community businesses and individuals to visit. CCS also participated in The Leadership Greater Waseca program which offered our associates leadership development opportunities. In August 2015 Jesse Sherman, the CCS Plant Manager, received the Progress Award, and in October 2015 Cinch received the Waseca Chamber Business of the Yearaward. At this time, we had the opportunity to recognize many valued associates who have lived and raised families in the Waseca community. In November 2015 Waseca High School seniors toured the plant through the Discover Waseca Careers program. We appreciate the many opportunities our membership with the Waseca Chamber has offered!

It has been such a great experience being involved with the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce over the years. The connections made with a broad range of people have been priceless. The exposure to all that the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce does to support local businesses and residents has been eye opening and makes me proud to be a member. Additionally, being on the inside has given me great appreciation for all the work the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce staff, Board and committees do on their own as well as collaborating with so many other parties (public and private). The Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce is a group that understands Waseca is history rich and future minded.

I believe the chamber stands for “the care and feeding” of our local communities. It’s an organization that feels the pulse of what’s happening.

As a business owner and chamber member for over 40 years, my question is “are we engaged and contributing to this organization and our community?” Are we a positive influence? Are we capitalizing on our strengths? Are we proud of our name on the map, and the direction in which we are moving?

“Care and Feeding” doesn’t just happen without effort. Let’s feel the pulse!

Being an active member of the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce has given me the opportunity to meet many business folks in the Waseca community. I appreciate the relationships that I have built within the community by attending the many networking opportunities the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce puts together throughout the year, as well as partnering with KOWZ 100.9 and KORN Country 92.1 to be a part of the great Waseca business community.
